Around 500 young media professionals from South Asia have completed RT Academy’s International Journalism Course. They came from seven countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka – and included aspiring journalists, editors, correspondents, producers, bloggers, communications specialists, entrepreneurs and other media enthusiasts.
Over the course of the program, participants watched around 50 pre-recorded video lessons covering topics ranging from story pitching and verification to top performance, filming, production and posting on social media. In addition, three webinars were conducted featuring RT experts and speakers who shared their expertise, responded to participants’ questions, and gave feedback on selected final projects.
Graduates have received their certificates and will soon gain access to the RT Academy Global Alumni community.
In their feedback, participants in the RT Academy course highlighted its alternative perspective on global events, with many noting it encouraged looking “beyond conventional interpretations” and beyond “dominant Western narratives.” Many praised the program’s professional depth and comprehensive coverage of broadcast journalism – from news production and verification to filming and distribution – describing it as “perfect” and “very thoughtful.” Several emphasized it reminded them that “a local story can carry global importance,” inspiring them to report from their own regions.
